Purpose
Garden City Community Circus accepts its duty of care towards children, young people and vulnerable adults. This policy applies to all instructors, staff and volunteers.
Section 2
Fundamental Principles
- All children and vulnerable people have a right to protection from abuse, regardless of age, culture, disability, gender, language, ethnic origin, religious beliefs or sexual identity.
- The welfare of the child is paramount.
- All suspicions and allegations of abuse are taken seriously.
Section 3
Our Commitments
All Garden City Community Circus instructors hold an enhanced DBS check and are trained in safeguarding.
- Sessions are planned to encourage positive, safe learning.
- Children are supervised at all times in our care.
- We will never leave a child unsupervised or in a one-to-one situation with an instructor without another adult present.

If you have a safeguarding concern

No concern is too small to raise. Your concern will always be taken seriously.

This policy is informed by: Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018; The Police Act 1997; Children Act 2004; The Criminal Justice and Court Services Act 2000; The Sexual Offences Act 2003.
